Regenerative Medicine Q & A

What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine acknowledges your body’s ability to repair and replace damaged cells. It knows that with the right resources, your body can regenerate tissue and correct issues.

The Rejuvenate Health team uses regenerative medicine to help their patients’ bodies do the work of healing themselves. With it, they apply injection-based treatment to the place where you’re experiencing pain, stiffness, or discomfort. This floods the area with resources your body can use to repair itself. It’s ideal for chronic joint pain or slow-healing injuries.

How does regenerative medicine work?

The team at Rejuvenate Health offers three forms of regenerative medicine:

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

Whenever you get injured, your body directs the platelets in your blood to the area. These platelets help your blood clot and supply the space with growth factors, which support cell growth and division. Flooding the area with growth factors stimulates and promotes regeneration.

To supply a targeted area with growth factors, your Rejuvenate Health provider takes a small sample of your blood and places it in a centrifuge. This allows them to separate the platelets, deriving the PRP, and inject it into the treatment site to support healing in that area.

Stem cell therapy

While the platelets support your body’s regenerative processes, sometimes your body needs building blocks to heal an area best. In those cases, your Rejuvenate Health provider can take stem cells — essentially, unprogrammed cells — from one part of your body and inject them into the treatment area.

The area then converts these cells to whichever cell type it most needs, including ligament, tendon, bone, nerve, and cartilage. With stem cells at the ready, it can do more thorough healing work faster.

Prolozone®

This injection blends prolotherapy — during which your provider injects an irritant to stimulate your body’s healing response — with ozone therapy,  procaine, and B12, which helps the area heal more quickly than with prolotherapy alone. It allows us to target areas of the body that need an immediate reduction of inflammation and pain. Soft tissue and joint ozone therapy are especially effective for people with joint pain like rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis.

What are the benefits of regenerative medicine?

With regenerative medicine, the team at Rejuvenate Health can help improve your mobility, reduce pain, and lessen inflammation.

What’s more, all three regenerative medicine treatments are low-risk, minimally invasive procedures with little-to-no downtime. They don’t require general anesthesia, either.
